Gold Dawg Railroad

Ladder Roadbed Photos

Page Three

The Ladder Roadbed was a success!!

I have been running trains on it for three months without a derailment. The Blue Comet looks great on the layout and it is nice to know it is not going to flip on it's side due to twist and dips in the track.

Here is the entrance into the tunnel. I got the river rock from work for fee so I used it to here to hide the above ground ladder roadbed This view shows how well the ladder roadbed blends in when ballasted
I sprayed the top of the ladder roadbed with gray primer to dampen the bright white color. I should have painted the sides as well. Ballasting hides it pretty well except for the right side of the photo where some white is seen. The Blue Comet looks great on this shallow curve
Coming around the lighthouse, the Blue Comet heads into the new S curve. The Blue Comet comes out of the S curve and heads into the tunnel. The smooth curves and level track mean flawless running for the long heavyweight cars.
