Gold Dawg Railroad

Revolution TE Installation Photos, Page 4

The EMD GP7 has been my favorite diesel since I was little. It was my first Lionel loco. I always imagined that the lit marker boards were eyes on the face of the loco. The USA Trains GP7 was my next loco to get the Revo treatment.

Due to the integrated lighting circuits I decided to make new lighting boards following George Schreyers Tip's Page for the GP7. This allowed me to removed the main board which made plenty of room for the receiver and capacitor board. The white, yellow and blue wires will go to the body to power the headlights. I use European strip terminals to join several wires. Here the right connector is track power and the left connector is motor output power. USA Trains uses the Con-240 connector  to connect track power and motor wires to the main board. I wired Con-240 connectors to the terminal strips, then plugged them into the track or motor wires.
The center Con-240 connector will power the marker and cab lights in the body. Note the pink foam support for the receiver board. Here is the new wiring harness tucked up inside the body. I use all Con-240 2 or 4 pin connectors between the body and chassis for easy removal. On the right, you can see the new marker light board. You can see more about the LED headlight conversion on my LED Lighting Tips Page.
